I'm an independent software engineer with 34 years of experience creating software, ranging from compilers to desktop applications to web applications. I’m particularly strong using C++, C# and Silverlight (.NET Framework for web applications). I'm also comfortable with Java, HTML and various other technologies and can easily learn new tools and technologies. My focus is creating software for non-partisan and progressive organizations and companies. I am particularly interested in projects that help effect progressive social change, help make information more accessible to everyday people or help Democratic Party or other progressive political organizations. |

| Snapshot of Dave's Redistricting |
I am the author of Dave's Redistricting, a web application that allows anyone to create congressional, legislative or county council districts for all states, plus DC and Puerto Rico, using 2010 census data. The application is free and easy to use. It is used by bloggers, legislators, congresspersons, non-profits and news organizations. The application has enabled people who would never have been able to do their own redistricting to create district maps, discuss them and advocate for them. It’s an example of technology opening a door previously closed to regular people and an example of my passion and capability.
I'm seeking interesting new projects. Please contact me at redistricting@gardow.com.
